Policymakers Have Plans to Change the Teacher Pension System

May 25, 2017

The governor and some state legislators are considering big changes to the teacher retirement system.

Call your legislators and urge them to

  • Reject any plans that would shift the cost of teacher pensions onto cities and towns. The shift would increase property taxes, reduce funds for education, and cost teaching jobs.
  • Protect teacher pensions and keep the existing teacher pension plan.
  • Oppose any increased teacher pension payment.
